Bangalore's B.PAC has released the B.SAFE Constituency Phase III Public Place Safety Audit Reports for Vijayanagar and Govindrajanagar, covering assessments of 265 public spaces used regularly by women. The reports evaluate sites such as anganwadis, parks, bus stops and health centres for infrastructure, inclusivity and security conditions. They follow similar audits completed in earlier phases of the programme and mark the latest step in efforts to improve public environments in the city.
Expansion of audits across assembly constituencies
The initiative began with audits in Mahadevapura and Malleshwaram during Phase I, then moved to Hebbal and Dasarahalli in Phase II. Phase III extended the work to Vijayanagar and Govindrajanagar, with students and faculty from RNS College of Architecture carrying out the field assessments using a mobile application developed by CGI India. The programme has so far reached 15 municipal wards in the first two constituencies and 20 wards in the subsequent pair, building a cumulative record of safety conditions across multiple Bangalore locations.
The release event drew government officials, civic leaders, safety ambassadors, media representatives and community members who discussed required changes. B.PAC describes the resulting documents as practical tools for advocacy, planning and targeted improvements rather than static records. CGI contributed through its CSR activities, while the architecture students handled data collection and site evaluations on the ground.
Next steps for implementation
With the Phase III reports now public, B.PAC plans to use the findings to press for upgrades that address identified gaps in lighting, accessibility and overall security. The organisation expects the data to support ongoing work with local stakeholders and to guide further rounds of audits in additional constituencies. Residents and ward-level groups can access the executive summaries through the B.PAC website to track progress and participate in follow-up discussions.
